Reality And The Truth Of Scientific Theory

In the study of the philosophy of science,the issue of relationship between the reality and truth of scientific theory occupies the kernel position.According to the correspondence theory of truth,truth consists in correspondence between a claim about the world and the objective world,between theory about the reality and the reality itself.But the transcendent characteristic of the objective reality,which is independent of our thought,concept and theory,causes the correspondence theory of truth to be confronted with a difficulty that is hard to overcome.This difficulty embodies itself on the truth of scientific theory.Based on the criticism and use for reference about some of the work of other researchers on the issue of truth of scientific theory,adopting the dynamic analytic method and relying on the abundant data collected in recent years,a deep analysis is made and some views of point are brought forward in this dissertation.Starting with the narration of the dichotomy between phenomena and reality,the dissertation shows that this kind of pattern of thinking has been also adopted by the modern science.The three levels or meanings of the concept of reality are brought forward.The dissertation deems that the theoretical entity posited in the scientific theory on the basis of experiential reality is the transcendency over the experience, and also the attempt made by human being trying to grasp the ontological reality in their thinking. As the progress of science and the truth of scientific theory gradually affirmed, this kind of theoretical entity will be corrected and made more perfect so as to gradually tend toward the ontological reality, so the ontological reality or"thing-in-itself"which hides behind the phenomena will become known.
