1. In this thesis, twenty six novel tripodal ionophores in four series were synthesized from trimethylol propane and triethanolamine. Their compositions structures were characterized by elemental analyses, IR and 'HNMR spectra.1.1. In this thesis, twenty six novel tripodal ionophores in four series were synthesized from trimethylol propane and triethanolamine. Their compositions structures were characterized by elemental analyses, IR and 'HNMR spectra.1.1. Compounds 1~3 of the series of 1,1,1-tris[4-dialkylamino-4-oxo-l-(2-oxa)butyl]propane were synthesized by Williamson reaction of chloro- acetamide with trimethylol propane:1.2. The tri-ester prepared by the reaction of trimethylol propane with diazo acetic ester, and tri-ethyl nitrilotriacetic ester, respectively reacted with 2-aminopyridine to give tripodal compound 4 or 5, and linear compound 6 was obtained by the reaction of 2-aminopyridine with carbon disulfide:1.3. Tris(nitrophenoxymethyl)propane and tris(nitrophenoxyethyl)amine prepared by the reaction of trimethylol propane and triethanol amine with p- and o-chloronitrobenzene respectively, were reduced to give the corresponding amines. The amines condensed with 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde, 2-quinolinecarboxaldehyde and salicylaldehyde respectively to give the tripod Schiff bases. The tripodal salicylamides were obtained by the condensation of salicylic acid with amines in the presence of phosphorus trichloride.1.4. 1-Chloromethylbenzotriazole prepared by the reaction of 1-hydroxymethyl-benzotriazole with thionyl chloride reacted with trimethylol propane and triethanolamine respectively to give the tripodal compounds 15 and 16; Tripodal compounds 17 and 18 were obtained by the reaction of l-chloro-4,6-dimethyl-pyrimidine with trimethylol propane and triethanolamine respectively.fomular of Ln(NO3)3 L 3H2O (Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Y). The molar conductivity result showed that they were 1:1 electrolyte, that is, two of the three nitrate anions in the inner part of the complexes, and one outside. The stability constants (Ks) of these complexes were determined by fluorescence spectrum. These complexes were very stable, and the logKs of the complex of compound 1 with lanthanum nitrate was as high as 6.15. under certain conditions, compounds 4,5,15 and 16 could form complexes with many transition metal cations, such as manganese, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc and cadmium in different compositions.5. The four synthesized compounds 1-4 have been evaluated as ionophores for the analysis of alkali and alkaline earth metal cations by ion-selective electrode. Compound 2 showed good characteristics, and the detailed experimental conditions of ion-selective electrode analyses with compound 2 as ionophore were studied. The Influence of pH on the potential of the electrodes, the reproducibility, the short-term stability and the response time were also examined. The results indicate that using NPOE as plasticizer and with addition of KTpCLPB, the electrode has excellent Nernst response and selectivity for Ca2 ion. But using DBF as plasticizer and without KTpClPB, the electrode has excellent Nernst responses and selectivities for Li+ and Na+ ions. The linear range of electrode for Li+,Na+,Ca2+,Sr2+ with NPOE as plasticizer are lO'MO'1, 10"3-10"\ 10"4-10"\ ICrMo^mol.r1 respectively, the corresponding detection limit: 5.8X 10"4, 1.3 X l(r4, 4.7X 10'5, 5.7X 10'5; the Correlated coefficient:...
