Facing the challenges brought by China's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO), Chinese textile enterprises are striving to catch up with the international standards in personnel, capital, information and management. Industry insiders believe China's accession to the WTO will bring many opportunities to its textile industry. Those enterprises that have reached international standards in terms of equipment, technology and product quality will have an edge on global competition. In weaving, a warp must withstand a repeated stretching caused by shedding and beat up. It is also subjected to abrasion. The abrasion between warp yarns, which is mainly due to shedding and reed motion, is critical factor affecting warp breakage rate. There are numerous factors that can affect the performance of warp yarn in weaving. These factors can be broadly classified into the following three classes: yarn quality, condition of warp preparatory, and loom actions and conditions. The weaving performance of yarn is generally expressed in terms of warp breakage rate in weaving. The approaches used in the past to estimate the warp breakage rate can be broadly classified into empirical approach, statistical approach and instrumental approach. The phenomenon is so complex that it is difficult to form a clear picture of the breakage mechanism involved. The problem that remains now is a correlation of laboratory evaluation to the actual performance of warp on a loom.1. Research ContentThese paper researches mainly on two aspects, namely, test methods of sizing yarn quality and neural network model help to evaluate the warp breakage rate.A sized yarn abrasion tester was used to determine the abrasion resistance of the sized yarn. The continuous tensile abrader has been developed for abrading yarn. Yarn hairiness tester accessed appearance of sized yarn after abrasion. The clinging tendency tester determines the clinging tendency of warp yarns. The multilayer perceptron is a type of neural network allowing representation of therelations between input and output values. The neural network approximates every non-linear mapping of the form y = f (x).2. Research MethodsThis study investigates the warp breakage rate by considering sizing yarn quality. A neural network model helps to evaluate the warp breakage rate.In order to achieve the objective, a series of trials is conducted. We have developed DHJSD-1 sized yarn abrasion tester, the continuous tensile abrader and DHJSP-1 Clinging tendency Tester.By theoretical analysis, laboratory test and actual shop floor data, we have developed feed-forward back-propagation neural network models to predict the warp breakage rate.3. Research Production3. 1 DHJSD-1 sized yarn abrasion testerThe tester can test nine yam samples at the same time. Each thread is provided with a light weight, so a constant tension of 30 cN on each yam is maintained. In this apparatus, the yams run over the pins of the vertically reciprocating traverse. They cross each other with two turns and are forced to come into contact with each other on this crossing, so that there is abrasion of yam on metal and of yam on yarn. The frequency of reciprocating is 70 cycles per minute. Abraded length is 40mm. When one yam has had the surface fibers rubbed off and cannot withstand the stress, the corresponding weight will fall down and contact a sensor, sending a signal to the recorder, which automatically writes down the number of turns already run. 56 threads are tested to obtain each mean result. The mean and irregularity of lifetime were calculated. In weaving, the friction of yarn to yarn is intense than the friction of yarn to metal. We get the proof by a test. In the test, the yarn is 13tex polyester/cotton-blended yarn, the size is PVA1799, and the sizing add-on is 8.2%. The result show that the yarn to yarn friction affects the lifetime to 83.87 %, the yam to metal friction only occupies 16.13%.The test results of DHJSD-1 and Y731 sized yarn abrasion tester have the same rule: The higher the size add-on of a warp is, the high...
