Cotton fiber is endowed with function by traditionally modified technology, while harming seriously to the environment and the health, and not reaching the standard of green production process and ecological textiles. Therefore, the innovation on the traditional technology to develop green technology for cotton fiber with non-pollute to the environment is a hot research pot in cotton fiber fields.Functional cotton fiber modified with green technology is named eco-friendly functional cotton fiber. In this paper, the active aldehyde groups in molecule of cotton fiber are created, which can crosslink with amide in molecule of collagen and chitosan without chemical crosslinking reagents or additives to prepare eco-friendly functional cotton fiber, which can solve the disadvantages to natural cotton fiber and make green modification technology of cotton fiber feasible.Firstly, cotton fiber is selectively oxidized with NaIO4, and hydroxy groups of C2, C3 in glucose units of cotton fiber are oxidized to aldehyde groups, The structure and properties of cotton fiber selectively oxidised with NaIO4 are studied and Carrier Cotton Fiber is prepared with strength and elongation keeping 75% (The oxidized cotton fiber has some extent strength and contains active aldehyde groups, and is an ideal carrier which can crosslink with green functional materials containing -NH2 groups, and is named Carrier Cotton Fiber or CCF). The results show that cotton fiber oxidized with NaIO4 has weight loss and is degraded during the oxidation reaction. The crystallinity of cotton fiber oxidized limitedly increases little, however, the crystallinity of cotton fiber oxidized severely decreases and change from celluloseⅠto amorphism. The negative correlation between the initial peak temperature and aldehyde group content is evident, and aldehyde groups in glucose units of cotton fiber oxidized selectively are created through FTIR and XPS analysis. Carrier Cotton Fiber is prepared at temperature 55~60℃, oxidation time 1h,...
