The groundwater is clear, and its quantity is abundant and it can be easily obtained. At many places in the world, groundwater is an important drinking water source. In our country, especially in our country village region it is directly used as drinking water. However, the groundwater quality was polluted by the nitrate, and the concentration of the nitrate in the groundwater present up-trend in the last few years. How to remove the nitrate in underground economically and effectively is a very meaningful topic. In the last 10 years there are many scholars carry on earnest researches on this topic, put forward many worthy methods to remove nitrates in groundwater, such as the chemistry catalyst denitrification, rotating biological contactors, continuous flow membrane bioreactors and pipe membrane bioreactors etc. However because of the complexity of this problem, the methods put forward have many problems: such as there are harmful by-product in the treated water or the nitrate can not be removed selectively or the treated water is polluted by the microorganism during the period of treatment or the membrane's specific surface area is small and the volume loading is small and is hard to apply in actual, etc. This topic, at the base of comprehensive analyze existing methods of nitrate removal in groundwater, for the aim of eliminating the harmful by-product, the selectivity of nitrate removal, the separation of treated water and denitrification section, raising the diffusion rate of nitrate, enlarging the membrane's specific surface area etc, use a new technology—hollow fiber extractive membrane bioreactor to remove the nitrate in the underwater. This new method overcomes the problem of blocking in the hollow fiber membrane. The more researches on denitrification characteristics of this hollow fiber extractive membrane bioreactor has been made, taking ethanol as carbon source, including the effect of the ratio of organic carbon to nitrate-nitrogen (C/N ratio) on denitrification in extractive membrane bioreactor, the effect of nitrate-nitrogen loading on...
