Yuehai oil field is located on the south area of Liaohe Basin's central hoist with structural area of 70km2 and the nature of reservoir is structural. Oil setâ…¢in the 3rd Member of Dongying Formation is one of the main oil bearing strata. After the action of development plan of implementation dispersed water injection, this area appeared several problems, such as water rising too quickly, the injection just influencing one of pays in a dominant direction, the speed of reservoir's pressure resuming slowly, the oil production speed being lowly and decreasing relatively quickly. Focusing on these problems, the paper adopted several advanced geologic theories and technologies, such as reservoir sedimentology, high-resolution sequence stratigraphy, facies controlled stochastic modeling, etc, to describe the reservoir characteristics and to build up the geological model of oil setâ…¢, in 3rd Hainan block, Yuehai oil field. Through the research mentioned above, the following results are achieved:(1) High-resolution sequence stratigraphy theory was used to analysis stacking patterns of short-term cycle and divide oil setâ…¢into middle term stratigraphic cycles: MSC1, MSC2, MSC3 and MSC4. Middle term cycles are classified into 2 types of evolving period, i.e. slowly rising, stably decreasing.(2) Cores of 1 well (about 90 meters) were observed carefully and described in detail. It can be divided as 4 subfacies and 5 microfacies and it is considered that oil setâ…¢was composed of fluvial delta environment. The major types of sub-facies were deltaic front and predelta. The subaqueous distributary channel and distributary mouth bar were the major genetic types of sandbodyies.(3) Combined with sedimentary parameters'distribution, sandbodies'plane distributing laws are achieved. Because of the interaction of base level changes and sediment supply,braided delta of oil setâ…¢were classified into 3 types of evolving phase, i.e. highly developed period, intermittent period, regenerative period.(4) It was indicated that 10% and 0.5 md were the thresholds for porosity and permeability of prospective reservoirs, respectively. Subaqueous distributary channel sand and distributary mouth bar were the main oil producing sandbodies, which had better physical properties, but higher heterogeneity. The five reservoir evaluation parameters, including net-pay thickness, porosity, permeability and microfacies, were used in the composite quantitative evaluation of the reservoir by gray theory.(5) Adopting multi-information cooperation, combining deterministic modeling and stochastic modeling, utilizing the sequential indicator and sequential Gauss simulation, the 3D geological model was built up.
