It is an economical technical way with high efficiency to machine special-shaped surface of granite with diamond shaped tools, which is gradually widely used by stone enterprises. However, the advantage of the machining way is not completely brought into play because the problems can not be settled in time such as the kinds and high hardness of granite, the backward condition of theory and experimental research in the domain, as well as the low efficiency and high cost in the practical process, etc., thus restricting the application scope of the machining way. The problems of cutting force, temperature, wear of tools are systematically studied, taking the process of diamond shaped milling tool to machine 1/4 circular surface of special-shaped granite named Qilu Red and Jinan Green as the research object.The definition of machining special-shaped surface of granite with high efficiency is put forward, the characteristic and key techniques of which are proposed as well. On the analysis of the deficiency of machining granite with traditional technical parameters, a series of technical parameters with high efficiency is established based on the technical requirement of machining granite as experimental parameters of 1/4 circular surface of special-shaped granite, the machining efficiency of which is 3~5 times than that of traditional process.Analyzing the process of diamond modeling shaped tool to machine 1/4 circular surface, the geometry analysis model is established according to its geometry characteristic. Milling cutter micro-unit analysis method is introduced, and the corresponding coordinate system is set up at the same time. Micro-unit can be taken as diamond round saw and dish-shaped disk to separately establish cutting force model in each projection plane. Referring to the force analysis principle of single grain of diamond, the force of the contacting arc surface on micro-unit is analyzed and the corresponding theoretical model of cutting force is established to obtain the theoretical calculation formula of cutting force on special-shaped surfaces through integral. Analysis shows that the axial cutting force F_z of cutter is relatively large in the machining process of special-shaped granite, which is different from that of cutting granite with saw.
