To overcome the drawbacks of traditional liquid-liquid extraction, a popular tendency is a great reduction in the volumetric ratio of the acceptor-to-donor phase. This technique is called liquid phase microextraction. It has been proved to be fast, effective and low sample consumption method, which virtually eliminated the use of toxic solvents. In this thesis, new applications of liquid phase microextraction are studied deeply, which is divided into six chapters.First, the review mainly focuses on the developments of the liquid phase microextraction, which includes the fundamental, mass translation, configurations, applications and most important parameters that affects liquid phase microextraction.Second, a new method using hollow fiber liquid phase microextraction has been developed, which could determine the partition coefficient of organic compounds between water phase and n - octanol phase. The Log P obtained by this method was compared with data presented in references, which achieved by classic shake flask method and proved to be identical. Some organic compounds whose log P is unknown have been determined by this method. Third, a new application of hollow fiber membrane liquid phase microextraction was developed to determine of protein-drug bindings. It was found that the BSA and matrix in the blood serum do not interfere with the measurement. The method is simple and rapid. It overcomes the drawbacks of some conventional analytical techniques, such as long time spending and large volume sample consuming. Fourth, another novel method for the determination of dehydroandrographolide in Fufang Chuanxinlian Pian by hollow fiber membrane liquid phase microextraction coupled with high performance liquid chromatography was processed. With this method, some substances in tablets which interfered the determination of dehydroandrographolide were eliminated efficiently and the higher selectivity was achieved. The content of chlorhexidine acetate (CA) in chlorhexidine acetate suppositories was also determined by high performance liquid chromatography combined with hollow fiber solvent microextraction. This method is specific, simple, fast, sensitive and suitable for the determination of CA in chlorhexidine acetate suppositories.Sixth, a novel, simple and...
