The paper summarizes the research process for petroleum resin and hydrogenation catalyst. The hydrogenation catalyst is carried out. The property analysis and deactivation research for catalyst has been made by specific surface area and pore analyzer, X-ray powder diffraction apparatus, X-ray powder diffractometer (XRD), atomic absorption spectrometer, scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray energy dispersive spectrometer (XEDS) and so on. And carry on systemic research for the petroleum resin with high performance. The brief research contents and results as followed:1. The carrier for hydrogenation catalyst isα-Al2O3, the carrier treated by rear-earth nitrate can produce catalyst with good hydrogenation activity and high hydrogenatkra conversion rate; the formula is: Palladium 1.0±0.05%, rare-earth metal Z-1 0.5±0.05%, basic mental Z-2 0.5±0.05%, transition metal Z-3 0.2±0.05%. When the content of activity components is same, the activity of produced catalyst by spray on process is better than other by general immersion method. The activity of catalyst that is produced by palladium chloride which palladium content 3.0% is best. The highest activitic of catalyst is roasted at 350℃, disoxidation at 250℃for 3 hours.2. The process conditions of hydrogenation catalyst are: hydrogenation temperature is 240-270℃, hydrogenation pressure is 14-17MPa, liquid air speed is 0.5-1.0h-1 . The comparative evaluation of the hydrogenation property, activity, selectivity and life for catalyst are as same as the catalyst abroad. And in some aspect, just like resin color, poison resistance property for chlorinum and sulfur, this catalyst is better than the catalyst abroad.3. The analysis result for catalyst shows: the catalyst contains some elements, like Ah Pd Ba Ca Be Mg Mn Na Sn Sr V Zn, the content of active constituent is 0.98wt %. The content of all the elements is micro dose, except Al. The analysis of crystal phase results shows that the carrier for catalyst isα-Al2O3 phase and a fewθ-Al2O3 . The analysis of energy spectrum shows the active constituents distribute on the surface of the carrier in eggshell shape. The thickness of Pd layer is about 200μm. The loss of active mental constituent is the main reason for deactivation of catalyst activity during catalyst run procedure. The analysis of crystal phase for the used catalyst activity shows: as the run of catalyst, the sediment on the surface of catalyst is increasing, and because of high sintering, all theα-Al2O3 phase of the catalyst is totally transformed intoθ-Al2O3 phase; After analysis, the specific surface area, micropore volume and diameter and dispersion degree has decreased in different degree, but the diameter of active mental particle has increased with the run time increasing.4. High performance petroleum resin has light colored, high softening point, good thermal and aging stability. The raw material is the constituent of ethene cracking, the main components are three kinds of alkane, eight kinds of monoolefine and four kinds of conjugated diene. Thermal polymerization is affected by the ratio of monoolefine and diene, reaction temperature, water content in material and reaction time. Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer analyzed that the content of C5 is 1%, the content of C10 is 89%, the other constituents are C15 and C20. The best process conditions for cationic polymerization are polymerization temperature 120-170℃, polymerization time 16-18h, the quantity of catalyst AlCl3 0.75%, the temperature of water processing 90°C, the ratio of oil and water 1: 3, PH value of resin after water processing 7-9. During hydrogenation for resin, there are many elements affect resin's color, like degree of unsaturation, degree of branching, which can make the color become thick. Moreover,the unsaturated bond such as benzene ring, C=C and C=O in resin tend to form macromolecular conjugated system, which can also affect the resin color. In order to raising property of softening point and thermal stability of petroleum resin for oxidation, we should increase the molecule weight. In this way, we can improve the production's color and property.
