Based on the laboratory experiment, theoretical analysis and numerical simulation methods, the mechanical characteristics and electromagnetic emission rules during the uniaxial compression of the combined coal-rock are investigated in laboratory and its mechanical property was analyzed in theory; the relation between mechanical characteristics and electromagnetic emission of the combined coal-rock was discussed. The coupled stress-electricity model (CSEM) of coal or rock is established according to the theory of damage mechanic and statistical theory of coal or rock strength. And the measurement method of the model parameters is deduced and attained. Further more, two parameters are accounted with the EME experimental results of coal samples. In excavation roadway of Chengzhuang mine and Dashucun mine the routine forecast of coal and gas outburst is studied by the use of electromagnetic emission monitoring technology. The protecting zone of protecting stratum is studied by the use of field test, numerical simulation and theoretical analysis, and the results of field test are consistent with that of numerical simulation and theoretical analysis in Dashucun mine. Thus, the researching results can provide theoretical basis and a new research approach to electromagnetic emission monitoring technology for the purpose of the application of monitoring electromagnetic emission in the prediction of coal and gas outbursts.
