| Under the influence of the current world economic integration and―globalization‖, it gradually began to attach importance to localization design and demonstration of national cultural characteristics in the field of furniture. In this social background, the subject takes the modern Chinese furniture as the research object, in connection with the characteristics and problems in the development and innovation of the modern Chinese furniture in domestic enterprises, by analysis of―person - furniture - society - nature (environment) system‖, discussed the concept, methods and manifestations of the harmonious modern Chinese furniture design, and then build a modern Chinese furniture harmonious design theory and method of application framework system to provide the corresponding reference for the specific design practice. This subject extract the relevant theories and methods mainly from the disciplines of furniture, design, morphology, system theory and cultural theory, etc., explore the application mode with practical cases in modern Chinese furniture design by systematic interdisciplinary analysis, and propose ways of thinking of hierarchical analysis model for design in macro level, meso level, and micro level, for the appropriate level of target to select the applicable design theory and methods, in order to achieve harmony among the elements at all levels respectively.First of all, this paper give a detailed definition for the concept of the formation and style features of modern Chinese furniture, and collect and collate the current design and production of the style and the type of"modern Chinese furniture"in domestic enterprises, ultimately determine the furniture style of the 30 well-known furniture company as the mainstay of analysis, and further choose the representative of 115 chairs from domestic furniture design competitions and the works by well-known designers as the sample of empirical analysis. At the same time, this study analyze the affect factors for the formation of Chinese furniture style, as well as the consistency of the cultural identity of Chinese furniture and―super-stable structure‖, explore the concept and style characteristics of modern Chinese furniture, propose the affect factors for the formation of Chinese furniture style and the characteristic of form, structure, materials, technology, color and decorative features, etc., make clear the―meaning‖and the scope of modern Chinese furniture. Based on the above, combined with the design condition and product form of domestic furniture industry, this paper pointed out the mistaken ideas in modern Chinese furniture design: the shape of antique, imposed culture, blind to simplify and deliberately deconstruct, thereby clearly defining the disharmonious contents in the design process.Secondly, based on the interpretation of―harmony‖and the analysis of its philosophy implication, this paper deeply discussed the main ideas and application of the harmonious culture in Chinese and Western, and pointed out that the Chinese tradition of―View of Harmony in Personnel‖was mainly manifested as follows: harmony between man and nature, the beauty of Golden Mean and the balance of Yin and Yang, but the West's―View of Harmony in Mathematics‖is concentrated as follows: mathematics and harmony, unity of opposites and form harmony. Combined with the application and performance of Chinese and Western harmony ideas in architecture, art and craft and furniture, etc., this paper analyzed the similarities and differences of Chinese and Western harmony culture, so as to realize the integration of the design ideas and methods, and to determine the relationship between the levels in harmony design: macro-level system harmony, meso-level approach harmony and micro-level form harmony. On this basis, modern Chinese furniture will be incorporated into the―person - furniture - society - nature (environment) system‖, so that the system elements and relationships of macro-level, meso-level and micro-level can be defined.Thirdly, this paper respectively investigate the relationship between furniture and nature (environment), furniture and social culture, furniture and human from three levels in―person - furniture - society - nature (environment) system‖, and the way to achieve harmony with each other. That is the basic framework of the theory system of harmonious design in modern Chinese furniture. At three levels, With specific objectives and elements, this paper respectively introduce the corresponding design ideas and ways to solve the contradictions and conflicts between the elements, so as to achieve system harmony in furniture and various elements. The specific theories and application of methods in various system-level are as follows:(1)At the macro level, based on the analysis of the constituent elements and the demands of values of―person - furniture - society - nature (environment) system‖, this paper proposed two effects relationships in natural (environment) of modern Chinese furniture design: the direct limited value appeal and the indirect objectivity reference. Aimed at the two relationships, introduced sustainable design and green design concepts and methods, organic design and bionic design concept, and stress to meet the natural desire to improve attention to the ecological environment and natural systems in modern Chinese furniture design, emphasis on nature as teacher, and to convey nature charm to experience the nature and show the nature beauty of furniture, so as to achieve the overall harmony between modern Chinese furniture and nature (environment), that is the specific manifestation and application of the concept of―harmony between man and nature‖.(2)At the meso level, this paper focus on analysis of traditional and modern, harmony relationship between Chinese and Western-style in modern Chinese furniture design, pointed out the culture mapping in the various social factors, as well as the impact of the style and characteristics of modern Chinese furniture, definite the integration relationship between the succession in vertical timeline and the horizontal spatial dimension. On this basis, this paper introduces the typological method to solving the problem of heritage and integration of culture, respectively from the type extraction and abstraction, type conversion and form innovation in three phases, to complete design innovation from traditional Chinese furniture prototype to the forms of modern Chinese furniture. Among the type abstraction stage, with empirical data analysis, selected 75 models of the typical style of the Ming and Qing armchair as samples, resort to questionnaire surveys and rating scale field derived from observations, applied SPSS17.0 to analyze the factor and principal component, in order to determine the composition elements of design―prototype‖: the form factor, visual function factor, decorative color factor, then to achieve type conversion with topology inference, reference transplantation and deconstruction of polymerization, etc.. Ultimately, to complete the new forms of innovation with the specific form, which generally embodies the inheritance relations of―neutralization‖and the integration of―unity of opposites‖.(3)At the micro level, the relationship between people and the furniture is divided into two parts: the human factor and form factor, to achieve the harmony of the form in modern Chinese furniture, respectively from the levels of human needs and the formal beauty of furniture. In analysis of human factor, mainly from the ergonomic point of view to analyze the requirements of human scale and behavior, and introduce Maslow's need hierarchy theory to analyze the specific needs of different groups of people, and propose the corresponding furniture scale and the design requirements to correspond with the static human scale and dynamic behavior, as well as the modern Chinese furniture design model for different demands. A result of the analysis in the form factor, it mainly analyzed the constituent elements and relationship elements in modern Chinese furniture, involving modeling elements (point, line, surface, body and space), texture, color, and so on, with the form principles, such as the law of unity in diversity, symmetry and balance, proportion and scale, etc., to obtain the design method of modern Chinese furniture harmony beauty in form. As a whole, it takes―Yin-Yang harmony‖and―mathematics and harmony‖as the basic concept.Finally, based on the above discussion and analysis about three levels, this paper propose the system analysis approach of harmony design in modern Chinese furniture, primarily in the context of―person - furniture - society - nature (environment) system‖, according to the hierarchy principle of system theory, respectively adopt the corresponding design theory and methods to achieve the harmony of the constituent elements of the subsystem, and generally combine with Chinese and Western harmony ideas, to achieve the harmony in the overall system elements and their relationships. |
