Reservoir Management is the rise of ideas, concepts and processes to improve the overall efficiency of reservoir development. Reservoir Management has become an important direction of reforming management pattern and increasing economic efficiency in exploration, development, production capacity rate, and cost cut. Essentially, modern reservoir management is a complex system engineering including the following features. Reservoir is difficult to be described rightly and exactly, and the preciseness is increased in the act of reservoir management. Reservoir management is an engineering involving geology science, reservoir engineering, extracting engineering, and facility engineering, which take effects, constrict and advance, on each other. Furthermore, reservoir management is deeply affected by the surrounding social, economic, and geographic circumstances. Traditionally, It is difficult for traditional engineering and methods to completely describe the whole process and make systematic optimization of reserior management. Therefore, ideas and methods of system engineering are inherent uniformity to principles and requirements of reservoir management.The study applies System Analysis, Scenario Analysis, KSIM and System Dynamic (SD) model on Reservoir, having a deep analysis on reservoir management, featuring it as SD model, and running a simulation of real enterprise under various scenarios.Firstly, concept, content, level and type of reservoir management system are put forward on basic of analyzing the main characteristics and evolution trend to reservoir management in the paper. At the same time, the complexity of the system is analyzed, the structure of reservoir management system that is composed of reservoir resources, production management, technology management and organizational management is clear. As well the three hierarchical structure of system is brought forward to clearly nail down the three basic levels of the system including natural resources, engineering development and organizational management and the interaction among those levels. Those are some important foundation to make use of theories and methods of system engineering in reservoir management.Secondly, Scenario Analysis and KSIM are used to analyze reservoir management environment, figuring out some possible scenarios which also establish the base of SD model. Thus, preciseness is much improved when production-reservoir system dynamic simulation model is built and run on the basis of the study of system analysis and causal relations. Then the simulation model is tested by some historically practical data and it proves that the model show the effectiveness. Key variables sensitivity is analyzed too.Finally, results of reservoir management system simulation are applied to programming of reservoir management. Based on various scenarios Shengli Oilfield development is optimized according SD model. A new method for optimization control of reservoir management development is provided. Scenario Analysis, KSIM and System Dynamic (SD) model are integrated into establish of reservoir management system, forming the theoretical frame of reservoir management system. A new prospect study is just on the way.
