Shaft parts and components act important parts in mechanical devices. Their axes will bend during manufacturing. Straightening technology can reduce the axial deformation to ensure the shafts' qualities. The shaft straightening technology theory will be researched on the solid shaft automatic straightening technology to provide the theory support in developing state-produced automatic straightening press. After analysis to previous papers, based on elastic-plastic mechanic theory and experimental study, this paper present the modified Ramberg-Osgood instinctive equation, which is appropriate to many kinds shafts' material, by inspection on the relation between stress and strain in the straightening process, and built up the one-step straightening equation based on stroke-controlled, for the small initial deformation with single arc. The effects from other design elements such as stepped shaft have been studied on the basis of the above theory. And the effect from the axial force has been discussed by the three-dimensional finite element method. To remove the large deformation with single arc and crack, J integral theory has been applied in studying on the calculations and experiments of straightening shaft with single-edged crack, the straightening feasible field of shaft and the straightening stoke sequential equation have been proposed. However to the large deformation shaft without crack, general predictive theory has been applied to built up the multi-steps straightening stroke predictive algorithm. The problem from straightening multi-arcs shaft must be solved by the combinatorial optimization method, the heuristic algorithm based on the evaluation function with weighs has been proposed, and the experimental result shows that the weigh sequence will affect the straightening process.
