As one of the most important sections in the national economy, electric power generation has the characteristic of continual process and the requirement of running long and safely. With the great development of automatic control technology, DCS (Distributed Control System) has been broadly used in large and medium-sized fossil fuel power plant. DCS makes the operators work easily and improves the security of power plant. At the same time, with the application of DCS, the more comprehensive technology abilities of operators and control engineers are required. The traditional attendant training mode and training simulation based on physical working imitation are far from the requirement of skilled personnel in modern electric power industry. Since that, there are actual academic and engineering values to develop a power plant training simulator based on DCS for training power plant operators.According to the trend of the simulation development and requirement of engineering, the following works are completed.A design scheme and its implement method of a simulation system with actual DCS in the loop are present in this paper, and that ensure the appearance and kernel fully identical with the practical unit. Since that, the simulator can be applied to train the manipulation personnel and the control engineer, and analyze the control system of practical plant.A method of distributed real-time simulation system and its implement technology are presented based on the design scheme. This really and truly realizes the complete separation between the process model and control model. Meanwhile, and this also realizes effectively distributing processing of the task, decreases unit-working load, eases communication flux, and increases system reliability.In order to ensure the calculating precision, minish dynamic error, and provide enough testing parameters for control system, the modified lumped parameter model and adjusting method of dynamic error are used in developing model. The mathematics model can be used not only in real-time simulation, but also in simulation of engineering analysis, particularly in tuning parameters of control system and testing control scheme.The open network communications management software is developed to ensure reliable information transfers and conversion, and also provides a flexible tool for re-developing of DCS. Based on DCS work mode, the configuration systems for graphic menu and the control system are developed. Using these tools, the development will become more quickly. This configuration software provides a powerful tool for developing and maintaining simulation system, and these have enhanced the function of simulation system developing platform.With a 135MW fossil fuel power plant as a prototype, a whole scope simulator is successfully accomplished. This Simulator has being used for training power plant operators and has been obtained excellent effects.
