This dissertation is a part of the scientific and technologic project approved by Hunan Province Construction Council. The research is aimed at the seismic performance of a new structure which is two stories of RC shear-walls and frames support six stories of concrete block masonry walls, and investigate the seismic design method of this type of structure. The research achievement can support modify the Construction Code related and provide material for engineering application. The main contents are list below:l.The shaking table test of a 1/8 scale model of the concrete block masonry structure supported by RC shear-walls and frames has been conducted under El-Centro wave, Taft wave and site wave. The intensity of the earthquake wave are respectively to simulate different seismic fortify intensity of 6 and 7 degree. The earthquake responses, deformation condition, damage character of the model in every stage were measured and recorded. The white noise scanning test was conducted before the shaking table test and repeated at every interval of each test to obtain the law of the basic frequency vary with the time. Based on the analysis of the seismic damage mechanism, seismic performance evaluation was drew. Test suggested that a structure designed according to The Code can sustained a earthquake of 7 degree and can satisfy the Three-Level performance objectivity.2.The law of the basic frequency vary with the stiffness was conducted in theory, which has coincidence with the result of the shaking table test. And this provide a theory base for the damage analysis based on the degradation of the stiffness in the future.3.The hysteretic models of the RC frames and shear-walls in bottom stories and masonry walls in upstairs are modified according to the result of the shaking table test. And based on the character of this type of buildings, a nonlinear differential equations has been established. A computer program-Frame Shear-Wall Masonry System (FMS) was comply out. The nonlinear analysis result in terms of acceleration ,velocity, displacement and story shift ,story shear and deformation mode from the program can basically conform to the result of the test.4.By introducing a hysteretic model for the reinforced concrete block masonry wall, analysis of the six stories of reinforced concrete block masonry walls supported by two stories of RC frames and shear-walls was conducted with FMS. The result show that this type of structure has a good seismic performance can sustained in a earthquake of 8 degree.5.A new seismic design method based on performance are promoted .This method is firstly consider the damage value as a base parameter for design. The damage value are calculated from a modified damage model oriented provide by Y.J.Park and Ang (1985). Base on the result of the shaking table test, the damage state of the structure has been studiedseriously. The calculate damage result is basely conform to test result.6.Advise of the seismic design of this type of structures are provided with a practical example.
