Matrix converter is considered as an "all silicon" power converter with an advanced circuit topology. It permits frequency conversion in a single-stage processing without large reactive energy storage components. It draws sinusoidal input currents and allows the input fundamental displacement factor to be set at unity or freely varied regardless of the load power factor. Besides these, it is capable of performing frequency conversion with sinusoidal output voltages and currents at the desired output frequency and allows bi-directional power flow.Matrix converter has flexible topology, It could be3 × 1(AC - AC) 3 × 1(AC - AC), 1 × 3(DC -AC), 1 × 1(AC - AC) etc, So it could be used in many power conversion situation. Three-phase in three phase out matrix converter is deeply researched and widely used. In this dissertation, three-phase in three phase out matrix converter is mainly researched on its space vector modulation scheme and its application in drive systems, also, single phase matrix converter is also researched by simulation and verified that it could be used in switching power system, and a scheme of AC voltage regulation topology is proposed by using the fundamental unit of matrix converter which is bi-directional switch. And Three-phase in three phase out matrix converter is the main objective of this dissertation.First, he AC-AC transformation control and the double-space-vector PWM scheme of the matrix converter were deduced from its equivalent structure of the AC-DC-AC conversion, and based on the fundamental scheme and through the comparisons of several different modulation methods, a optimized switching scheme was presented to reduce the switching loss, so the optimal input and output performance is gained. Under the SVM scheme, there is a serious problem brought by the multi-step commutation, the multi-step commutation made the output voltage distorted, and the output voltage error is calculated, the an easy scheme is proposed to compensate the output voltage error by correct the duty time of the vector. The three phase in and three phase out matrix converter prototype is fulfilled, including its main circuit and digital control system, the construction of bi-directional switch is analyzed, the design principle of input filter and its affection to input and output performance were discussed, and a modulation method with input power factor correction was presented. The technology of 3 φ -1φ and 3 φ- 1 φ PEBB is researched, and the PEBB includes its main circuit, drive circuit logic commutation circuit etc, for the first time, the insulated drive power system is also integrated in the PEBB, the three layers control system conception is proposed in this dissertation. According to the application of matrix converter, the dissertation designed the control system of V/f scheme for motor drive system, and to improve the performance in low speed circumstance, a scheme of adaptive commutation by using logic chip is proposed.The dissertation mainly pay attention on the three phase in three phase out matrix converter, and the integration technology research, application of matrix converter. And some ideal results were got, and contributed to the matrix converter's industry apply.
