Along with our country urbanization advancement speeding up, high level housing becomes more and more many and people pay more attention to the high level housing plane and the spatial request. Firstly, recent years emerged the short pier RC shear wall is one kind structure system, in which self-possessed is lighter, the ability to keep warm is better, the plane arrangement is nimbler, the construction function is excellent, compared with the ordinary RC shear wall structure. The key of development short pier RC shear wall structure that has excellent seismic performances is the development of the short pier RC shear wall whose seismic performance is better. In this paper, seismic experimental research and theoretical analysis are presented. Secondly, short special shaped column and short pier shear wall are usually used in high building at the same time, which have some correlations in research. Therefore, some measures of improving the seismic performance of short special column is advanced, seismic experimental research and theoretical analysis are presented in the paper. Thirdly, in high building, RC core walls are the main component that resists the lateral force. Some measures of improving the seismic performance of RC core walls is advanced, seismic experimental research and theoretical analysis are presented in the paper. Main contents and outcomes are listed as follow: 1. Systemic experimental research on seismic performance of 12 short special shaped column models with crossed reinforcing bars or with concealed columns, 10 L-shaped short pier RC shear wall models with concealed bracings, 2 --shaped short pier RC shear wall models with concealed bracings and 2 RC core walls with concealed bracings are put forward and carried out. The specimens amount to twenty-six and the study contents include structures and their components, which have proved their excellent performance. 2. Based on the experimental research, stiffness and its attenuation process, bearing capacity, ductility, energy dissipation, hysteretic performance and failure feature of structures and their components have been analyzed. The effects of crossed reinforcing bars and concealed columns improving the seismic performance of short special shaped columns are opened out.
