From the perspective of communication the dissertation surveys the design of exhibition space that is regarded as a whole propagating process. On this basis the paper analysis the four elements of the process in detail, that is content, propagator, audience and medium.First, this paper analysis the information's content in the propagating process of the exhibition space's design. The content of communication includes the transmission of the space's function, the beauty, the space's meaning, and the transmission of the display information. The transmittable success lies in that architect act as the propagator and audience share symbolic meaningThe dissertation discusses the main body of communication, i.e. propagator. The propagator's system is complex in the process of the design of exhibition space, so that it is divided into the direct propagator and the indirect propagator. The architect acts as gatekeeper in the propagating process. Through analyzing the architect as the gatekeeper's behavior and influencing factors, the article suggests the strategy of communication for effective communication.The audience is the information accepter who accept the information not passive but initiative. So, the paper emphasize audience's mainly psychology ingredient when they choose information: audience's psychology of demand, audience's psychology of attention and audience's psychology of comprehension. The more important is to strengthen audience participation during the process of the exhibition space's design.The exhibition space is the most basic medium;therefore the architect should master the rules of it. The change of medium will give huge effect on the exhibition space's design and the exhibition modes. Virtual display will take new chance and challenge in the exhibition space's design.By means of analyzing the relationship among architect, medium, content and audience, the article sets up the theory frame of transmission model in the exhibition space's design. The article combines the exhibition space's design with communication, use the theory and method of communication in the exhibition space design. The research puts forward a new point of view and expands a new understanding in this domain.
