The problem of crack of reinforced concretes has always been paid attention to bythe learners in the world. Since the Code for Design of Concrete Structures(GB50010-2002) was carried out, high strength reinforced bar (HRB400) is usedwidely in concrete structures. High strength reinforced bar may lead to wider crackand larger deflection, and this will cause the need of serviceability limit state can't bemet. Whether high strength reinforced concrete structures can reach the agreement ofthe adaptability and duration or not, is cared for in practical project. So the researchon the performance of high strength reinforced concrete structures is meaningful. Inthe paper, the crack by bending and shear and the deflection of T-shaped beams withHRB400 under concentrated and distributed loading were studied. In the paper, the bending and shear behavior of 24 high strength reinforcedconcrete beams were tested. The effects of the method of loading, concrete andreinforced bar strength on the crack width and deflection were analyzed, and theproblem of adaptability of reinforced concrete beams was discussed, too. At the basis of the experiment, the reinforced concrete beams were analyzed bythe nonlinear finite element method. The finite element model were proposed, and theprocess of the experiment were simulated with the finite element software ANSYS.From the comparison of the numerical results and experimental ones, it can be seenthat the numerical results show excellent agreement with the experimental ones. The formulation that can be used to calculate the crack width of high strengthreinforced concrete was proposed in the paper. Compared the formulation suggestedin the paper with the others, it can be seen that the formulation suggested in the papercan show excellent agreement with the experimental results. It can be used to computethe crack width.
