HRB400 steel has been widely used in the engineering structure, after the Code for design of concrete structure (GB50010-2002) had been promulgated and implemented. Used HRB400 steel as stirrup, the oversized diagonal crack maybe appears in the concrete beams. The formula of calculating the width of diagonal crack is not provided directly in the code because the theory is not perfectly. How to establish the calculate theory and deduce the formula is one of the emphases in the research. Based on the experiment studies of 8 concrete beams with high-strength stirrup, the development of the diagonal crack and the influence of the distance between stirrups, the strength of concrete and the strength of steel were discussed in this paper. And then constituted the formula to calculate the maximum width of the diagonal crack in the beams under the concentrate load. The development of the crack in the shear period of the beam under the concentrate load should be divided in two parts. In The first part, the max width of the crack is located near the bottom of the beam produced by the bend and shear, and in the second part the max width of the crack is located in the middle height of the beam. The forums of the max width of the crack in the shear pear period of the beam were deduced based on the analyses of the experiment. at last by validating the experiment data it was concluded that the exactitude of the formula is adequate.
