As a part of ammunition for modern gun, welded steel cartridge case is popularlyrecognized in the weapon industry. Is has a plenty resource of raw material ,and can bemanufactured without big machine. It has many other advantages such as low cost highefficiency, good mobilization etc. Correct design and manufacture are the guarantee forindehiscent air and ejection during the process of firing . With the development of tubeweapon , the kinds of gun cartridge case applied to are getting more , and the load conditionis getting worse , So it is very important both in theory and application to research the designtheory, material to research the design theory, material performance fitting ,structure analysis,production process ,and measure tools of cartridge case .The article analyzes the way welded steel cartridge case works, the design theory of it, themain elements affecting the performance of it, it is process and parameters , and the materialsused in it .The forces on welded steel cartridge case and the deformation of it within ton tubeare simulating analyzed with modern computers ,large business analysis software ,and theexperience of manufacture practice .The max deformation ,the deformation derived fromresidual stress ,the stress at the point of max canal pressure ,and the distribution of residualstress are precisely calculated, giving out the theory for designing the structure of cartridgecase and design theory of welded steel cartridge case .As an example, a simulatingcalculation of cartridge case is carried our . It is concluded from the calculation result that themax shift at the mouth section of cartridge case during firing does not reach the initialinterval at the mouth of cartridge case designed . So the mouth of cartridge case does nottouch the tube wall at the point of max canal pressure ,and the mouth of cartridge case cannot stop the air leak. This conduction is approved by the actual tests. The tests show that aircut and sorting occurred on the body of the cartridge case when firing. The conclusion coulddirect the emended design of the cartridge case solving the real engineering problems. Theresidual shift on each sections of the cartridge case are analyzed .The result shows that theresidual shift of sachem to section are smaller than the initial interval designed, and theresidual shift of a small part of section 5 is larger than the initial interval which derivesinterference and ejection resistance. So it can be concluded that the large ejection resistanceof a few cartridge case is caused by the air our on the body which leads to the variation ofroundness of the cartridge case, and the design for ejection of the cartridge case is correct.The article makes the optimal design of welded steel cartridge case efficient, precise andone-time success .The friar of the article is valuable complete and correct design theory,analysis methods calculation methods and practical techniques to the design of welded steelcartridge case.
