| The vertical unanchored liquid-storage tanks are important facilities in oil and petro-chemical corporation to store flammability and exploded-prone medium. In case the tanks are damaged in the earthquake, it can result in serious disaster. Seismic design is one of the key questions for storage tanks. Observation of the strong earthquake and the seismic damage indicates that the earthquake is multidimensional random vibration. At present, the study of liquid-storage tanks under the single dimension stimulant concerned by the researchers both in China and overseas has some limitation.In order to obtain the accurate seismic response of the vertical unanchored liquid-storage tanks, the seismic response and test analysis are processed in this paper, which provides seismic design with scientific gist, by calculating the effect of three-dimensional earthquake.At first, in this paper, the development of the research of the vertical liquid-storage tanks and the three-dimensional seismic response of the structure is introduced. And the main researches of this paper are brought forward. Secondly, the theory of the multidimensional analysis for the seismic response of structure is expatiated. The seismic damage is summarized; the multidimensional characteristic of the earthquake, the observation method of the multidimensional earthquake vector, and the analysis method of the multidimensional earthquake are introduced in this paper. Thirdly, the finite element analysis of the three-dimensional seismic response for the vertical unanchored liquid-storage tanks is researched. Aimed at the vertical unanchored storage tanks, considering the effect of the groundwork and the coupling of tank wall and liquid, the numerical model of the tanks is established, and the ration results of the seismic response for tanks under the power of three-dimensional seismic are educed by the ADINA software.
