| The urban landscape, as the carrier of the urban life, is put to focus increasingly with the development of society, economy, and culture. The reasonable layout of urban environment could improve competence of cities, bring vivid life to cities, and lead cities to a sustainable development.Meanwhile,in the era of rapid urbanization of China, the creation of good urban environment is put more and more attention in the planning and establish of new districts in the sprawl of metropolitan. Urban environment is regarded as an inevitable way to form the vision and identity of new districts. The urban environment in new districts is much different from the traditional urban greenfield, either in scale, function or physical configuration. Some new requirements and challenges are coming forth, which is an important subject in today's theory of landscape planning.Some new character and problems in the urban environment planning of new districts are analyzed in the thesis.Firstly, the relation between urban and urban environment is reviewed in both theory and practice, which result in the conclusion that the development of urban environment is an organic part of the whole urban, and the relationship have an experience from separation to integration.Secondly, following the tendency of integration, a research framework is put forward for the method of urban environment planning, which is based on the developing stage of China today. The core of these methods is the integrated instruments of transport, location character, site context, natural resource, and some other urban elements.Thirdly, the detailed description is discussed in four areas, which is site analysis, scenery evaluation system, physical planning, and rules establishment for control. Finally, in action plan and realization of urban environment, three strategies are emphasized, which include phase of urban environment development, big urban event as opportunity and impetus, and development model of government leading.
