With the development of the West Region, the all kinds of infrastructure constructions, including railway, highway and water conservancy project, are building largely. In this process, because of the special geologic environment restriction in the western region, a large numbers of the cutting excavation and the artificial slope are formed. So it is very necessary to evaluate the slope stability expecially rockmass slope which is an important issue affecting the engineering construction and safe operation. In the foundation top of the engineering geologic survey, based on the experimental analysis, extension theory, grey theory and numerical simulation this paper build a theoretical modes of slope stability and instability pridiction, and which are adapted for the K86+180~K86+470 highway slope.The main research works and results are as follow:(1) At first analyzing the specialties of rockmass slope compared with earth slope, and summarizing the rockmass structures, instability modes and geologic models, expounding the failure mechanism of the slope based on the rockmass structure. Then the factors affecting the stability of rockmass slope are concluded.(2) Because the discontinuity and rainfall have a key function to rockmass strength, mechanical tests under the different water capacity of rockmass with discontinuity are operated. The results showed compared with the native state the shear strength of rockmass under the saturation state decreased by 11.17%, cohesion force decreased by 16.09%, internal frictional angle decreased by 10.02%.(3) 3D-σFEM numerical simulation software is used to simulate the slope stability on the native state and saturation state. Compared with the nature state the displacement of the discontinuity and stress concentration in the saturation state is largened clearly, the results showed slope stability under the rainfall is weakened.(4) The calculational methods in existence have many shortages for factors weight. Based on the the concrete meaning of weight, figure out the importance conpositor of factors should change with the actual numeric of factors. On this ground the simple correlation degree of extension theory is introduced, put forward a improved method for judgement matrix. At last this method is used by a practical example.
