Solid desiccant assisted heat pump hybrid system was first proposed here, which could offer the cooling load and heat energy for regeneration entirely. Coupling of heat pump subsystem to desiccant wheel are experimental studied, and the performances of hybrid system at different operating conditions are experimental studied and numerical analysis. The transient responses of rotary desiccant wheels are researched here through experimentation and numerical analysis. The main works and results are as follows:1. Experimental investigation of the Coupling of heat pump to solid desiccant.Under standard condition, the refrigerating capacity of heat pump can meet the cooling load, and the heat released of the heat pump can totally meet regeneration load, and no other heating installations are needed. With temperature increase of outside air, temperature of air out of condenser rise, which adjust to the change of regeneration temperature with outside air. Results of the experimental investigation of heat pump made the hybrid system possible.2. Experimentation and simulation of rotary desiccant and heat pump hybrid system. A system simulated program is developed. In view of improving air quality and saving energy as soon as possible, the performance of hybrid system with 20% fresh air and 10% fresh air are researched respectively through experimentation and numerical analysis under different operation conditions, results of which are compared with those of conditional air condition system. Compared with hybrid system of 20% fresh air, the hybrid system of 10% fresh air can save 4% energy additional and the coefficient of performance of which is improved, and the hybrid system can save more energy for blast temperature is lower than required. The performance and energy consumption under different operation condition are given, and the research demonstrate that heat pump can offer the energy consumption of regeneration totally under different operation condition by varying the air volume through condenser. Energy saving abilities of hybrid system to conventional system under different operation condition are also given.3.
