The functions of buildings are usually changed with shops, restaurants, exhibition halls and amusement halls located at bottom stories and houses, offices and hotels located at top stories. Correspondingly, transfer structures must be designed to transform the top smaller column grids into the bottom larger column grids or transform the top shear wall structure into the bottom frame structure, the latter is called the structure of shear wall supported on frame at the bottom large space. However, some earthquake disasters revealed the weakage of this type of structure. In China, high-rise buildings are widely built in high earthquake intensity zone and the structure type of shear wall supported on frame is frequently used by structure engineers. How to improve the seismic performance of this type of structure is an important problem. The structure of transforming the top shear wall into the bottom frame is studied in this paper. To improve the structural seismic performance of shear wall supported on frame, SRC is proposed to strengthen the bottom frame. In addition, SRC frame columns and SRC frame-supporting beams for bearing upper shear wall can also reduce frame section and increase usable building space. Some valuable results of theory and test will be provided to structural engineers, which may be helpful for their designs.The main contents in this paper are as follows:1. The study background, significance and main contents are introduced in this part.2. The states of the art of steel reinforced concrete, shear wall supported on frame and transfer structure are summarized, which are relative to the study of this paper.3. The loading mechanism of the structure of shear wall supported on frame is studied. The model of finite element analysis for the structure is established and the simply calculation method for the structural internal force are given.4. Based on the obtained internal force and the design codes of "Technical Specification for Steel Reinforced Concreted Composite Structures (JGJ138-2001)" and "Specification for Design of Steel-Reinforced Concrete Structure (YB9082-97)", the design method for SRC frame-supporting column, SRC frame-supporting beam...
