The short-shear wall structure is one kind of new building structural system, there still remains a lot to be studied and perfected. This article first took the special-shaped column, the short-shear wall as the object of study, has conducted the research to its strength and ductility performance, the axial compression ratio limit and so on, and compared their axial compression ratios. Then, the thesis was devoted to study on the short-shear wall structure, including its mechanism, failure mode, seismic capability, mechanical models, seismic design based on performance and failure mechanism, which made its seismic capability and design theory to be more perfect. The paper mainly accomplished such work as follows:(1) A Fortran program was developed to deal with the moment-curvature relationships(M-φ)in any reinforced concrete members with flexures and axial force based on mathematical method. The influence of the flange and axial compression ratio on the strength and ductility of T-shaped columns and short-shear walls has been studied; and proposed the axial compression ratio limit. Finally their axial compression ratio limits have been compared.(2) Taking a 10-storey short-shear wall structure as the object of study, through SATWE, TAT and SAP2000n structural analysis software, analyzed different mechanical model to structural seismic performance analysis influence.(3) According to test study and theoretical analysis, the failure process, the mechanism and failure modes of two short-shear wall structures under the horizontal loads were studied. Then using the increase method, carried on the plastic limit analysis to the experimental structure, the ultimate loads were calculated, the test results were proved. During the plastic limit analysis, the structural failure mechanism was given, and the method to achieve the beam-hinge mechanism was preliminarily analyzed.(4) The nonlinear static analysis were taken to the test structure and the 10-storey short-shear wall structure. The failure mechanism, the distortion process and the ductility performance have been studied; In the nonlinear static analysis foundation, the structural anti-seismic capacity was studied using ability spectral method; The nonlinear static analysis method and the plastic limit analysis method were compared.(5) According to the nonlinear static analysis result and the plastic limit analysis result, discussed the beam-hinge failure mechanism which the short-shear wall structure formed; Studied the flexural capacity ratio and the rigidity ratio to the structural beam-hinge failure mechanism of the short-shear wall structure. According this, proposed the design way of the short-shear wall structure to realize the beam-hinge failure mechanism. Finally through the research to the 12,15-storey short-shear wall structure, proved the beam-hinge failure mechanism design method rationality.The originality of the thesis lies in:(1) Based on the analysis of the special-shaped columns, proposed the axial compression ratio limit of the special-shaped columns,and proved its rationalityThrough the analysis of the influence of the axial compression ratio limit of the special-shaped columns, studied the rationality of its reinforcement; And according the compression faliour limit, studied the influence of the sectional dimension and ratio of reinforcement on the regulaty of special-shaped columns, proposed the axial compression ratio limit, compared their axial compression ratio limits.(2) Carried on the plastic limit analysis to the short-shear wall structures, and proved its rationalityFirstly carried on the plastic limit analysis to the short-shear wall structures, studied the failure process, the transmission mechanism and failure modes of two short-shear wall structures under the horizontal loads. During the plastic limit analysis, the ultimate loads were calculated, the test results were proved, the structural failure mechanism was given, and the method to achieve the beam-hinge mechanism was preliminarily analyzed.(3) Proposition of the design way of the short-shear wall structure to realize the beam-hinge failure mechanismFirstly studied the flexural capacity ratio and the rigidity ratio to the structural beam-hinge failure mechanism of the short-shear wall structure. According this, proposed the design way of the short-shear wall structure to realize the beam-hinge failure mechanism, and through the research to the 12,15 -storey short-shear wall structure, proved the beam-hinge failure mechanism design method rationality.(4) The nonlinear static analysis of the short-shear wall structureThe nonlinear static analysis has been taken to the test structure and the 10-storey short-shear wall structure. The failure mechanism, the distortion process and the ductility performance have been studied. In the nonlinear static analysis foundation, the structural anti-seismic capacity was studied using ability spectral method. The structural nonlinear behavior was considered by free plastic hinge during establishing model. Through the Fortran program dealing with the moment-curvature relationships (M-φ) and the test result, defined the yield face and the sketch curve.
