Give benefit to the end user was the initial purpose of developing power market. During years of reformation, the customers were not given enough recognition. If proper regulating method was taken, and the customers'demand response would be initiated, not only the customer but the power system would get new regulation resource. For this purpose in this paper the DR and the method of DR attending power system operation and regution is studied.In this paper the characteristics of customers taking in DR is analyzed by economic theory. The fundamental condition of DR program is the response of customer. The incentive method will act only the customer has response characteristic. In this paper first the customer's basic response characteristic is studied and the response mode and the cost are analyzed. From point of physics and economic the feasibility of the customer's taking part in DR program is proved. The different types of customer's optimal response model are studied, and a case is used to testify that after the response strategy is taken not only the customers get economic profit, but the social power pressure is relieved. For different regulating cycle, the power grid companies'different regulate methods on different customers are studied. The method for demand side resource attending the system regulation is proposed. And the incentive and risk to regulate DR is studied.In the water abundance district the season-of-use (SOU) and time-of-use (TOU) are important measures to initiate DR. The traditional pricing method is accounting or statistical method, and the customer's response and satisfactory are not considered. The customer is only the price taker, the active action of the customers are not behaved. In this paper a synthesis pricing method is proposed. The customer's elasticity matrix at different time levels that is the customer's response ability is considered. At the yearly time level the hydro-thermal electricity exchange is achieved and the seasonal differentiation is decreased. At the daily time level the peak load and differentiation between peak and valley are both lowered. The load curves shape of the two time levels can be improved by this synthetical pricing method. And the different time characteristic customers are treated reasonably.Based on the two-part price mechanism, the middle and long term reliability and short term reliability of power system are analyzed, and the condition and principle of reliability price decision is achieved. The reliability pricing method is proposed, which includes not only the reliability discrepancy among different nodes but the different customers' reliability requirement. The risk loss price which reflect long term reliability can control the customer bidding high reliability price, which is good to the power company take back the cost on improving reliability.In the early power market interrupted load (IL) is an efficient method to absorb the customer in the market operation. The pressure in peak dispatch introduced by the generation deficiency could be relieved. In this paper not only consider the influence of IL characteristics on IL purchasing charge, but the line restriction capacity is included in the IL optimal model integrated with the peak dispatch characteristics. By the model and method in this paper through the IL attending the peak load period active dispatch the reserve tension during peak load period is relieved and the economic of system operation is improved.In the power market environment the grid company purchase reserve capacity from both generation side and the demand side to utilize the economic complementary of the reserve resources. The advantage of demand side attending the system reserve is the active influence on safety and credibility of the system operation. In this paper based on the risk management, including the emergency demand response program in the reserve coordination optimization model is given. By the risk analysis of reserve capacity configuration the Markov chain method is used to forecast the system operation state probability at the future period. The cost of system safety operation after the emergency is considered, and the currency measure of emergency state set by probability method is realized. Thus the cost loss of post emergency is introduced in the reserve optimization model. In the power market environment the generation side and demand side reserve resource configuration are efficiently optimized, and the operation risk and reserve cost are all considered.
