Based on the urgent need on Chinese forest development, in this paper we analyzed foreign and domestic literatures, based on the micro and macro study methods, applied the combination of logic regression and demonstration analysis, quality and quantity analysis, forest management and forest ecology methods, soil and water conservation, wood biology science, carried on the systemic research on the forest multi-function methods. Evaluated the multi-function of plantation forest in Da Bian gou stated owned forestry center of Liaoning province.We draw the following conclusions:(1)Function of soil and water conservation means that the protection from forest to its soil parts and promote the infiltration of precipitation.It can be divided into four sub-functions:Ease the floods, protect water quality, avoid the loss of sediment, prevent collapse of forest land. The forest area rate of covering the soil can be used as a determination of the evaluation(2)Function of reducing greenhouse gas means forest can reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It also can be divided into two sub-functions:forest absorption, storage of carbon dioxide. Forest volume, growth, carbonation, specific gravity and expansion coefficient can be used for quantitative evaluation.(3)Function of conservative biological diversity means forest provide the place for reproducing and conservation of biological species. Indicators of scarcity, diversity and natural characters can be used as evaluation methods(4)Function of forest timber production means forest can provide sustainable and high-efficient timber materials; also ensure healthy function of itself. The indicators of shape ration, quantity of growth, growing stock, pruning, forest road network, average gradient, sub compartments size, wood imperfections can be used for its evaluation.(5)We verificated the evaluation methods by the records of 15 plantation forest sub compartments, evaluated soil and water conservation function in the watershed scale, and evaluate decrease greenhouse gases function, biodiversity conservation function and timber production function at the sub compartment scale (6)This research explored the comprehensive evaluation and integrates evaluation of each sub-functional element by radar image methods. Proposed the evaluation methods by calculating the forest polygon area. Based on the mechanism of radar imagine made the classification of multi-functional forest. It can be expressed as full advantage type, stable balance type and disadvantage lost type.The innovations of this paper:(1) Achieved the measurement and evaluation on multi-functional forest in the sub-compartment scale under the framework of forest management. (2) Concise method was applied for measurement and evaluation on sub-function. (3) Multi-functional integrated information of forest was expressed by radar image method.
