The purpose of this study is analyzing the regular pattern of secondary forest structure characteristics in different succession stages. Based on the pattern and the secondary health management theories, the poplar-birch secondary health evaluation standards and the key adaptive management technologies were proposed. In the research, the poplar-birch secondary health management mode was deeply studied by many methods:such as combining theory with practice, combining qualitative judgment with ration and model, combining investigation in field with sciectific analysis and reasoning. The main research results are as follows:In the study the forest health was defined as the perfect condition of:forest ecosystems structure, ecological function, succession process and social adaptation.Second, proposed a new quantitative secondary forest succession stage division method. The method based on proportion of species and the age of the main sub-storied.Third, established a secondary business management objective system, and proposed a general forest health assessment index system.Forth, in the study, the secondary structure characteristics analyzed by tree species composition, the DBH, the tree height, the spatial structure, the age structure, the diameter class distribution, the regeneration structure etc., in order to establish the poplar-birch secondary structure in different succession stage.Fifth, in the study, a poplar-birch secondary health assessment index system was established. The Jingouling poplar-birch secondary health grades were classified as:disease, unhealthy, sub-health, healthy, high quality. Based on the health assessment relationship between the health grade and stand structure, building an coupling model system. The coupling results showed that the dominant factor affecting health levels followed by X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6, namely biological indicators, arbor, shrub and grass structure indicators, business indicators, natural index, economic indicators and other indicators.Founction of early successional (H1):H1=0.3 X1+0.17 X2+0.11 X3+0.08 X4+0.07 X5+0.23 X6;Founction of medium-stage (H2):H2=0.22X,+0.21X2+0.11X3+0.08X4+0.07X5+0.29 X6;Founction of the third stage (H3):H3=0.2 X,+0.19X2+0.11X3+0.1X4+0.08X5+0.31 X6.(4)In the study, an adjustment and dynamic secondary forest health management mode was proposed for poplar-birch secondary forest. For different succession stage, proposed different management target system and it would provides a theoretical basis for secondary forest management.
