The changes in infrastructure of uterine tissues, degradation of collagen and myosin, isolation and identification of microbial species in the uterine lumen, ultrasonic image of the uterus and cellular apoptosis in the uterine tissues were studied in the adult sows (n=8) at the age of 6-8 year old and 120~159kg in weight,by using transmission and scan electron microscope, amino acid analyzer, B-mode ultrasound scanner, cultures of uterine microbial; species and TUNEL during the uterine involution. The objectives of the study were to determine the physiologically dynamic changes of the involuting uterus in the postpartum sows and the time for the uterus to complete involution, so that to provide new evidence and sufficient parameters for increasing the reproductivity in the postpartum sows and developing swine production. The results indicated that:1. The marked changes in the length and diameter of the normal uterine horn, and the weight of the uterus occurred from days 7 to 13 after parturition, and the diameter of the uterine horn decreased abruptly from 8.9cm to 7.4cm. The weight of the uterus decreased from 845g to 532g, and then the parameters, above mentioned, maintained generally stable from 25 days to 31 after parturition.2. The endometria were partially damaged owing to the effect of parturition, and the cells around the damaged tissues were necrotic and desquamated within 7 days postpartum. The new epithelial cells appeared in the damaged parts of the endometria at the day 13 and all the surfaces of the endometria were covered with the new epithelial cell at day 25 postpartum. In addition, the pseudostratified columnar epithelium of the endometrium was almost repaired at 25 days, and was completely repaired at 31 days postpartum.3..The concentration of HYPRO in the peripheral blood of sows reached the highest level (3.4225±0.36 u g/ml) at day 4 postpartum, and decreased to the levels similar to that before parturition, at 22days after parturation .however, the concentration of HYPRO in the urine reached the peak level (13.7742±1.21 u g/ml) with 10 days postpartum and reduced rapidly at the day 19. The results indicated that the curve pattern of HYPRO in the peripheral blood and urine was almost similar although the peak of HYPRO in the peripheral blood occurred earlier than that in the urine. The concentration of HYORO in both blood and urine was high from day, 4 to 16 postpartum, which meant the period that the volume of uterus reduced at the most rapid and marked rate.4. The concentration of 3-MHIS, characteristic of degradation of collagen fibers in the postpartum sows, rose rapidly from the beginning of the first day after parturition, and reached the highest level (0.1111±0.1082 u mol/ml) at day 13 postpartum, then decreased rapidly and reached the lowest level (0.0305±0.0033 u mol/ml) at day 25, similar to that at day 1 postpartum The concentration of HIS in the peripheral blood, increased slowly from the beginning of the first day, then rose rapidly from day 13 postpartum and reached the highestlevel (0.3869±0.3420 u mol/ml) at day 16, then decreased, at day 31 postpartum it reached the second peak level of 0.7357±0.8428 V- mol/ml. The results suggested that the most rapid speed of uterine involution occurred between day 13 to 16, and the sequentially slower speed indicated the uterine involution was almost completed. The peak level appeared at day 31 postpartum may associated with the first ovulation.5. The number of bacteria in the uterus of the postpartum sows increased rapidly between day 0 to 1 postpartum, and reached the peak level at day 7 postpartum, then declined gradually up to day 25 postpartum, the number of the bacteria reached to (7.35±2.54)xl02/ml sample. The kinds of bacteria species maintained stable between day 1 to 7 postpartum, then increased between day 7 to 13 .The results indicated that the kinds and number of bacteria in the postparturent uterus vary with the ability of the uterus to prevent and the diameter of the cervix. It also indicated that t...
