The agricultural development is a basic problem of global sustainable development, and a fundamental industry of a country as well. Our country is characterized by large population, insufficient cultivated area, lower per capita grain yield. So far, the agricultural operation has not totally got rid of the traditional manual work yet, in which the disadvantageous factors exist such as small-scale operation, low technical content , irrational input—output, and thus severely restricting the development of agriculture. In order to make the agriculture of our country get greater development on the existing foundation, we must use the new and high-technology to transform the traditional agriculture system completely depending on the scientific and technological progress, and increasing the scientific and technological content of agriculture.Pricesion Agriculture (PA) is a new trend of agricultural development in the 21st century and also the hot field in the study of agricultural science. PA is the system supported by information technology and implemented by a whole set of modernized farming operating technology and management based on spatial variability, localization, timing, rationing. Its basic function is to regulate the input to the crop according to the soil properties in which the crop grows. Namely, on one hand, it investigates the soil properties and spatial variability of productivity in the field, on the other hand, it mobilizes soil productivity by confirming the production targets of the crops, carrying on system diagnosing, optimizing prescription, technology assembling, scientific management systematically with localization to reach equal incomes or high incomes by minimum input and to improve the environment and to utilize all kinds of agricultural resources high-efficiently. Therefore it benefits economically and environmentally.The implementation of PA mainly includes three links: real-time acquisition of space information of farmland, intelligent information managing and decision, intelligent VRT working. Among them the acquisition of farmland information is a prerequisite and also the bottleneck of the PA implementation.According to PA current development and research situation, This dissertation mainly studies and analyzes the means and methods of the farmland information acquisition, Based on the characteristics of PA and its demand on farmland information acquisition, analysis and management, etc. It confirms the portable spectroscope as the leading equipment in acquiring crop information.
