24 elite rice sterile lines were analyzed with SSR markers. And also the combining ability of 24 rice sterile lines and 4 elite restorer lines were analyzed with Griffing's dialel cross IV method. Flowering natures of 24 rice sterile lines were investigated, and the trait importance influencing the flowering was evaluated by the correlation analysis and path analysis. The improved effects of main traits of hybrids rice released in Sichuan from 1991-2005 were also analysed and dicussed. The main results are as follow:1. SSR markers could accurately distinguish 24 elite rice sterile lines and showed large molecular ploymorphism. SSRs could reflect the genetic relationship of the 24 elite rice sterile lines.2. We established a fingerprinting data of the 24 elite sterile lines with two group markers. With one to three SSR markers. We can efficiently distinguish anyone of the 24 elite rice sterile lines from others. This posed a bright usage potential for the detection of varity indentity and provided a powerful technique for the technological supporting of variety protection.3. The flowering habits of the 24 elite rice sterile lines were reserched and five concerned characteristicss were investigated. In all of 24 elite rice sterile lines, ZhongjiuA was the best in flowering habit. D297A was the second. Through the correlation analysis and path analysis, the flowering duration have the biggest contribution to the out-crossing seed-setting rate, the second was the stigma exerted rate.
