Phosphorus (P) is one of the essential nutrient elements to maintain wheat growth,Phosphorus deficiency in soil is a barrier to yield and quality formation of wheat. So applying phosphorus suitably under phosphorus-deficient conditions is benificial to high yield and good quality. The experiments conducted in sandy soil with 4.1mg/kg available phosphorus at the experiment farm of Agriculture Science Institute of Taixing City in 2003~2005. The experiments mainly studied the characteristics of P absorption, accumulation and distribution in wheat varieties for different end uses, and the effects of P on grain yield and quality. The relationship of the activities of key enzymes involving in starch and protein synthesis with starch and protein contents was analyzed, and the suitable P application approaches to improve grain yield and quality under phosphorus-deficient conditions in wheat were suggested. The main results were as follows.1. Phosphorus absorption rate showed two peaks during wheat growth. The first peak appeared during the period from seedling emergence stage to wintering stage, then wheat grew slowly untill reviving stage, in which P absorption amount was relatively small. The second peak appeared from booting stage to anthesis.Of the total P...
