The mechanical property, electrical property, acoustic property and environmentological property of wood are closely related to its structure and chemical composition. Inorder to obtain a well knowledge of wood properties, we must start with the research of wood strucrure and components.Up to now, no scholar put forward a method that could describ the structure of wood uniformly, so most research was in the macrocoscopic level. In this paper, a convenient method which can quickly obtain parameters of wood was raised and virtual wood structure model was established. In the virtual structure model, solid wood was abstracted and wood structure was described by a uniform method, which provided an basic flatform for modeling in future. The traditional heat and mass transfer modeling process was improved also. The process of building heat and mass tranfer model of wood was divided into two parts: the building of virtual wood structure model and the development of heat and mass tranfer model.The main conclusion and originality can be described as the following:(1)An digital wood microstructure image processing system using edge tracing arithmetic was constructed, which consists of optical microscope, digital image acquisition parts and digital image analysis system developed personally. Wood structure parameter could be obtained quickly and accurately using this system.(2) Wood cell edge tracing arithmetic according to the logic of human eyes was presented, and wood cell edge could be recognized without noise filtration.(3)Method of measuring wood cell thickness according to the positions of cell center was brought forward, which avoid the shortcomings of draw-line measurement.(4)Wood cell object was defined and virtual wood structure model was established using Object Oriented Programming theory as reference.
