China is one of the countries whose paper consumption is larger in the world, but wood pulp mainly depends on importation. It is an effective method that pulp forest base is build by paper-making company to resolve short of wood pulp. Shan Dong Tralin Paper Co. Ltd has always been planting pulp forest since 2000 year and Triploid Populus tomentosa was used as the first variety to plant pulp forest. So far, few references about pulp forest management in white poplar could be found. In this paper, Clone identification, container-raising seedling and technology of pulp forest management were conducted to solve some key problems in pulp forest management of triploid Populus tomentosa. The results show as follows:(1) Clone identification technique of Triploid Populus tomentosa was solved. Different clones are of different external characteristics. 12 clones were discriminated according to their characteristics in leaf shape. AFLP fingerprinting map has been constructed by using 8 polymorphic sites from 3 primer combinations. The genetic relationships among 12 clones are relatively close by AFLP identification. Purified seedlings were obtained by using the identification technology in order to meet needs of paper-making.(2) Standard seedling-raising technique of triploid Populus tomentosa adapting to large scale plantation was selected. Raising bare-root seedlings by sucker was simpler and cheaper than bud grafting seedling due to high land rents and complicated operations. The number of Seedling was 27420 stocks per hm2 and qualified stock percent was 70% in the second year. 65% cost was saved by sucker (0.77RBM/stock) compared to bud grafting seedling (2.33RBM/stock). 104 million could be saved in 40,000hm2 pulp forestry land (1665stock/hm2) was constructed. 76% survival percent was achieved by using stem cutting from sprout with 500ppm IBA and 500ppm NAA root powder in fine sandy loam potting medium. Stem cutting cost was only 0.51RBM/seedling and saved 78% compared to bud...
