Study on effect of using sulfur-removal waste residue (the main composition is gypsum) to improve the alkaline soil in the method of soil column indoor. The results are as follow: with the alkalinity of soil increasing, different alkalinities soil become inferior in the physical and chemical property. The higher alkalization degree, the more disadvantageous crops seed and growth. When the alkalinity of soil with gypsum is as well different. The efficiency is better with the soil alkalinity increasing. And the alkalinity is higer, the increasing scape is bigger. Combinating the soil column and potted plant experiment synthesize analysis that the soil alkalinity below 30% can be all improved by hydraulic and agricultural measure without the chemical amendment. When the alkalinity is over 30%, however, the alkaline soil must be made use of the chemical measure gathering water conservancy to attain improvement.During the processes of the soil improvement, concerning commix tier and noncommix tier of gypsum have different discriplinarian, which from quantitative change to qualitative change. This is discovered and put forward firstly by this paper, it established theory base for seting up the binary structure improvement tier alkaline soil improving, and a bit of times without number washing flooding. In improvement process of alkaline soil, the seepage capacity of gypsum was preponderated over 40% than the used capacity of gypsum. But the result of improvement soil translated alkaline soil into alkalier soil. Not onlu it is unavoidable and subsisted of stabilization in commix tier of gypsum, but also it destroyed direct improvement process. It is imported find what solved seepage problem of gypsum in the study. In configured duality structure of improvement soil, it needs abundance seepage gypsum in commix tier into noncommix tier in order to losing seepage capacity reduce in all deepness of improvement soil.
