There were four data sources in this study: long-term and continuous observation data ofJiangxing Dagangshan Forest Ecosystem National Science Observation Research Station(Dagangshan Forest Station), researches of high schools, academies and institutes, forestresources second-class inventory materials in Jiangxi province from 1994~2003, and the third, fourth and fifth forest resources second-class inventory materials of Dagangshan Forest Station.Based on ecology and economic theories and methods, material and value of forest services inJiangxi province and Dagangshan were analyzed and assessed quantitatively. The purpose wasto bring natural resources and environmental factors into SNA, assess Green GDP, providereasons for decision-makers. In this paper, ecological and social services were assessed, excluding wood resources economic values, forest by-product and woodland. Followings arethe main results.1. According to an overall review of theories and methods in forest ecosystem servicesstudies, characteristics of forest ecosystems in Jiangxi province and researches of Dagangshan, analyses in this thesis were focus on ecological and social services. Assessing indices andmethods, which were recognized, easily measured and appropriate to Jiangxi forest ecosystems, were chosen. Index system is made up of 7 subjects and 13 indices.2. Using social public resources data and data declared by national authoritativeorganization, dynamics of quantity and value of forest ecosystem services, including watersupply, soil conservation, carbon fixed and oxygen released, forest nutritient storage, airenvironmental purification, biodiversity conservation and forest tourism, were assessed inJiangxi province and Dagangshan. Especially, forest services under different managementmeasures were compared in Dagangshan.3. Four indices of Chinese fir plantations in different ages showed that services ofnear-mature forest>over-mature forest>mature forest>half-mature forest>young growthforest. Total value of near-mature forest was 2.17 times as great as that of the young growthforest. The order of forest services in Dagangshan was: carbon fixed and oxygen released>biodiversity conservation>soil conservation>forest nutritient elements storage. Soil conservation, carbon fixed and oxygen released and forest nutritient elements storage of differentgenerations of half-mature Chinese fir forests were analyzed. Their site index was 16. Totalvalue order showed that first generation>second generation>third generation, and the firstgeneration was 0.12 times larger than that of the second generation, and the second generationwas 2.07 times as great as the third generation. Differences among them were significant.4. Carbon fixed and oxygen released of 29 years old Chinese fir plantations in differentdensities showed significant differences. Their values were A(1667)>D(6667)>C(5000)>B(3334)>E(10000). Soil conservation of different fertilized young growth Masson Pine forestsshowed that soil applied P was significantly conserved. However, that applied K wasn't.Carbon fixed and oxygen released of Chinese fir plantations form different species sourceregions showed significant differences. Both species from central production regions and faraway form it were both small. Those from near central production regions were large.5. In Dagangshan, during the period of eight five, total forest ecosystem services valuewas 167.27 million yuan a-1and 77.08 thousand yuan hm-2·a-1. During the period of nine five, total forest ecosystem services value was 184.95 million yuan a-1, that was 78.88 thousandyuan hm-2·a-1. During the period of ten five, total forest ecosystem services value was 191.80million yuan a-1, that was 80.95 thousand yuan hm-2·a-1. The value went up 10.57%in total and2.33%per hm2 from period of eighth five to period of ninth five, and 3.70%in total and 2.63%per hm2 from period of ninth five to period of tenth five. The increased forest ecosystemservices benefited from the forestry policy implementation, for example the grain for greenproject, ecological public welfare forest conservation project. Water supply, carbon fixed andoxygen released, and biodiversity conservation took up 91.66%of the total service values inthe period of eighth five, 91.76%in the period of ninth five, and 91.71%in the period of tenthfive in Dagangshan.6. In Jiangxi province, during the period of ninth five, total forest ecosystem servicesvalue was 701.4 billion yuan a-1, that was 78.83 thousand yuan hm-2·a-1. During the period oftenth five, total forest ecosystem services value was 724.5 billion yuan a-1, that was 77.84thousand yuan hm-2·a-1. Forest ecosystem services value increased 3.292%in total butdecreased 1.256%per unit. It was due to the larger precipitation during the period of ninth fivecompared to the period of tenth five. Total forest ecosystem service value was about 3.57 times of GDP in 1998, and 2.68 times of GDP in 2003.The order of seven forest ecosystem service values were water supply(61.898%)>carbonfixed and oxygen released (19.445%)>biodiversity conservation (9.813%)>airenvironmental purification (5.286%)>soil conservation (2.309%)>forest nutritient elementsstorage (1.236%)>forest tourism (0.014%).7. In the period of tenth five, total services values of different forests ecosystem in Jiangxiprovince are as follows: Chinese fir forests>Masson pine forests>Quercus Forests>Hardwoodforests>Economic forests>Bamboo forests>Softwood forests>Cunninghamia lanceolataforests>Mixed broadleaved forests>Cinnamomum camphora forests>sassafras tzumuforests>Tung>Mixed conifer and broadleaved forests. Services values unit per area of differentforest ecosystems were Quercus spp Forests>Tung>Hardwood forests>Cinnamomumcamphora forests>Softwood forests>Cunninghamia lanceolata forests>Sassafras tzumuforests>Mixed broadleaved forests>Bamboo forests>Masson pine forests>Mixed coniferforests>Economic forests>Chinese fir forests. So evergreen broad forests in subtropical regionswas very important for improving forest ecosystem services in Jiangxi province.
