Study On The Variation Of Modified Poplar Wood

The fast-growing Poplar 69 ( P. deltoides cv.â… 69) and its modified wood by low mole weight PF resin were researched in this paper. Wood density,growth ring width and mechanical properties were researched, the variation rule of wood properties were analyzed. The impregnation of modified wood and its mechanical properties were studied, the distribution rule of impregnation and mechanical properties were discussed. The results showed as follows:(1)The trend of density variation in axial direction is: it will be increased along axial direction. The relationship of the wood density with age of the tree and DBH(diameter of breast height) were modeled. The relationship of density with growth ring width were studied, the results showed density is increased with growth ring width's reduce. Based on the relationship between wood mechanical properties and wood density, the model was set up.(2)Poplar wood were divided into two parts as investigated materials. Part A were modified straightly by PF resin, part B were modified by PF resin after dipped in the water for one year. The distribution modes of impregnations of the two parts were analyzed and set up, and the impregnations'normal distribution rule were proved for Poplar modified wood. The results also showed, dipped in water for Poplar wood had active effect on results of modified, the impregnation and the degree of mechanical properties'increase. And the modified wood of Part A and B all presented obviously variation due to properties variation of Poplar wood.(3)Analyzing the variation rule after Poplar wood were preservative treated, to analyze the variation rule of modified wood by different treating impregnant. The results showed the similar variation rule between PF resin and preservative for Poplar wood.(4)The mechanical properties model were set up according to the law of composites mechanical properties and proved the model's applied quality.(5)The probability and the safe modulus were worked out by analyzing the mechanical properties'distribution rule of modified wood.
