Optimization of MDCTA Techniques of Carotid Artery and Preliminary Evaluation of the Value of Clinical ApplicationPART IOptimization of Techniques of MDCTA of Carotid Artery1.1Multiple Detector-row Spiral CT Angiography of Carotid Artery: Correlation of Different Collimations with the Means of Image Postprocessing. Objective: To compare the effects of two scan collimations on the multiple detector-row spiral CT reconstruction images of carotid artery in order to get a suitable parameters. Materials and methods:42 patients with or without clinical signs underwent the 1.0mm(1.3mm) and the 2.5mm(3.2mm) collimation scans, the acquired volume data underwent the three dimension reconstruction of Maximum Intensity Projection(MIP) and Volume Rendering(VR). General evaluation based on the edge of carotid artery and it`s branches and statistical analysis with SPSS were conducted by three experienced radiologists. Results: The image qualities of 1.0mm(1.3mm) collimation were superior to that of the 2.5mm(3.2mm) collimation in MIP reconstruction, but the difference of image quality between two groups was not obvious in VR reconstruction. Conclusion: Not only is the general image quality of carotid artery affected by different scan collimations but also by the means of image postprocessing.
