Objective:To optimize the techniques of multi-slice spiral computed tomography angiography (MSCTA) of the neck and investigate the clinical diagnosing value in the cervical artery diseases.Materials and methods:1. Patients data: 180 patients (96 males and 84 females; mean age 53.4 years, range 30~75) underwent the MSCTA examination using 16-slice spiral CT from December 2003 to June 2004 to optimize the techniques of MSCTA of the neck. According to the results, 206 cases (121 males and 85 females; mean age 51.2 years, range 12~78) suspected of various cervical artery diseases underwent MSCTA examination from June 2004 to February 2006. Among 206 cases, 21 cases underwent digital subtraction angiography (DSA), 65 cases underwent ultrasonography, and 17 cases underwent contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) in a week.2.Scanning protocol: All the examinations were performed with a 16-slice spiral CT scanner (SIEMENS SOMATOM Sensation 16). The Z scanning span was from about 2cm above the Wills cycle to the aortic arch. 120 Kv, 120mA and detector 16...
