Objective To investigate the effects of angiotensin II on proliferation and activation in rat pancreatic stellate cells and its mechanisms Methods Rat PSCs were isolated from normal pancreas and exposed to angiotensin II .Northern blot and Western blot were used to analysis the genes expressions , The DNA binding activity of NF-kB was determined using EMSA. Results PSCs highly expressed ATI after activation,.Treatment of cells with Ang II resulted in proliferation and activation of PSCs and led to a biphasic activation of NF-kB. Conclusions Ang II, through the ATI receptor, can directly induce the proliferation and fibrotic activation of rat PSCs and activate a functional NF-kB signaling pathway in PSC.
