| PACS(Picture Archiving and Communication System)is a research focus in Biomedical Engineering field, especially the problem of PACS localization. Based on the real application in the Affiliated Hospital of Gui Yang Medical Institute, and aimed at the construction of e-hospital, this paper discussed the network requirements for large-scale application, heavy dataflow transition, and solved the problems of relating network load balance and potential network storm. This paper presented the complete design and every implementation procedure. By building and utilizing the large-scale PACS system, the author suggested many beneficial effects the PACS has contributed to the operating methods, management efficiency and services standards of the hospital.Intel Net Structure 480T Giga Switch was used as main Switch. Each building was connected via Optical Fibers at the speed of 1000Mb/s and each information port is connected via 100Mb/s Optical Fibers; The original network was physically independent, and new 3 and 4 layer switchers were installed to reduce its dataflow load, as a way to keep load balance; All cables were super CAT5, and Intel Net Structure 1520 was employed to avoid potential network storm; All DICOM-interface or non-DICOM-interface modalities were integrated into one network; Network Server used Windows NT + SQL Server7.0, to solve the administrative and storing problem; 100 clinical workstations were based on web browser, RAID5 hard disk array is used to store data for 3 months online, and DLT is used for long term offline archive; The PACS system was integrated with RIS, HIS as a data exchange center of local area; Statistical method were introduce to analysis the diagnostic workload/non-diagnostic workload ratio, the percentage of the traceable scientific data, the x-ray film availability, unit service cost and the patients'waiting duration etc. in the hospital. An advanced intranet was set up to fully meet the high standard of PACS, which provides good foundation for future upgrade to 1000M application, guarantees the transmitting and sharing of image, information and patients data within the hospital, and builds a solid base for scientific and standardized management of the hospital. Typical PACS is constructed. It connected existing equipments and initially realized the no-film radiology. PACS is expanded to clinical rooms, surgery rooms, and emergency treatment room, etc. PACS is also linked with Hospital Information System (HIS), as well as networks of other hospitals. We established an image data center and realized... |
