Objective: 1. To observe and explore effect of hyaluronic acid in preventing the peritendon adhesion through animal experiment. 2.To observe the clinical effect of HA in preventing the peritendon adhesion. Methods: Animal experiment: Classified 24 rabbits into group of A and B and C randomly, had the lateral tendon of rabbit's soleus muscle traumatized with ameliorated Rothkopf and Perterson methods and adopted a self-control design to research . After wrapping the left injured tendon with membrane while treating the other side with saline water, we observed the effect of the membrane in preventing adhesion by various methods and experimental apparatus such as pathology observation , Sirius red and picric special dying and electronic microscope when the rabbits were putted to death according to experimental schedule.Clinical experiment:Classified 47 injured tendons of 47 patients into group of A B and C randomly. After operation,SHl was injected into the tendons of group A,SH2 was injected into tendons of group B and nothing was injected into group C.The level of tendon adhension was evaluated according to follow up visitings.Result: Animal experiment: The experimental tendons acquired a fair cicatrisation and the adhesion obviously was less than the control tendons. The adhesion grading result indicated a significant difference between the experimental and control tendons(A and C group P < 0.01;B group P < 0.05);Pathology observation indicated that the tendons draped with sodium hyaluronate suffered a slighter inflammatory response compared to the tendons treated with saline water. And moreover the fibers in the experimental group were well organized nevertheless adisorder of fiber arrange in the opposite group as a control. From the slices sampled 4 weeks later we could see a significant difference between ratios of collagen fibers I /III from the contrastive sides with Sirius red and picric method;2 weeks after the experiment the electronic microscope indicated the proliferating extent of collagen fiber cells significantly prevailed over the control side;6 weeks later the experimental libers were loosely and trimly arranged while the control fibers compacted closely and intercrossed each other.Clinical experiment:There was no remarkable defference between group A and B, (P> 0.05 ) .The level of adhesion of group C was more serious than that of group AandB, (P<0.05) .Conclusion: Animal experiment proved that HA has a satisfactory effect in preventing tendon adhesion and HA was safe and harmless to patients,it has a satisfactory clinical effect.
