Primary and metastatic brain tumors can escape the immunological defense of the host through many kinds of mechanisms. The immunological tolerance of brain tumors partly results from lack of specific antigen presenting cells (APC) , such as dendritic cells (DC), at the invasion position of tumor, thus the induction of specific immune in central nervous system is restricted. DC is a kind of APC with most potent functions, can induce native T lymphocytes and play important role in antigen processing ,treatment as well as delivery. Recent study found DC also fulfill important function on antitumor immune in central nervous system.Interferon is an effective antitumor biological agent. It can interrupt tumor growth by suppressing proliferation, against apoptosis, repressing blood vessels formation and immune regulation. It has been showed that interferon alpha is more important in the differentiation and maturation of DC.The therapy of interferon and DC are all effective biological treatment...
