Esophageal cancer ( EC) is one of the most common malignant tumors in China. The multifactor, multigene and multistage progressive process are involved In the carcinogenesis of EC. Although many oncogenes in EC were reported, The alterations of tumor suppressor genes in EC remain unclear. The exploration of tumor suppressor genes changed in human EC will contribute to elucidate carcinogenesis of EC, and will provide a scientific basis for the etiology and prevention in EC. Results from epidemiological investigations and studies by us and others suggest that EC in Lin-xian county, has been associated with exposure to N-nitrosamines, but the molecular mechanism of EC remains poorly understood. The purpose of this thesis is to study the alterations of p53,Rb, APC and MCC multiple tumor suppressor genes in EC in Lin- xian county using molecular biology methods, such as: PCR assay, DNA direct sequencing Southern blot analysis, gene methylation analysis, DNA polymerase fingerprint analysis. e.g. We also explore the molecular alterations of tumor suppressor genes in the...
