1. Cloning and Identification of ECRG-2 gene(1). Cloning and structure analysis of ECRG-2 geneThe putative full-length cDNA of ECRG 2 gene was generated using the SMART TMRACE technique. It contains 569 nucleotides, 258 nucleotides of the open reading frame (ORF) which predicts 85 amino acids. The genomic DNA contains 4 exons and spans about 3540 bp. Sequence data of ECRG-2 were deposited with the GenBank Data Libraries under Accession No. AF268198 and subsequently incorporated into UniGene which is identified by a unique number Hs.244569. The ECRG2 gene was localized to chromosome 5q22-23 using radiation hybrid method.(2). Expression of ECRG-2 gene in human tissuesSerial analysis of gene expression (SAGE) online and Unigene cluster Hs.244569 revealed an extend expression profile of ECRG-2. It was highly expressed in adult esophageal mucosa, brain, thyroid, mouth epithelia, fetal skin and thymus and low expressed in the fetal esophagus, brain, lung, heart, branchial, stomach, liver, spleen, colon, kidney, testis, cholecystis, muscle tissue. The expression of ECRG2 gene was down-regulated in the adjacent and cancerous esophageal tissues, colon cancer, brain...
