Objective To study the expression of somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR-2) in human gastric carcinoma and its relationship with lymphatic microvessel density (LMVD) and clinical pathological features. To observe the effects of somatostatin analog (octreotide) on the growth and apoptosis of gastric cancer cell line. Methods Immunohistochemical stain was used for detecting the expression of SSTR-2 and VEGFR-3 in 52 resected specimens of gastric carcinoma. The expression of VEGFR-3 was detected by the LMVD was calculated. The proliferation of gastric cancer cell line SGC-7901 was determined in octreotide groups and control group by MTT. The cell cycle and apoptosis ratio were measured by flow cytometry analysis. The expression of somatostatin receptor (SSTR)2 mRNA in gastric cancerceell line was detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) technology. Results The rate of SSTR-2 expression in gastric cancers was significantly increased compared with that in paracancerous tissues (76.1%,0%,P<0.01).In 38 gastric carcinoma specimens with lymph node...
