In some circumstance, tumor and normal host cells release some angiogenic factors. Angiogenin is the first factor isolated as a tumor-derived angiogenic factors and can induce the blood vessel formation.on the choriallantic membrane of the chick embryo. The biological activity of angiogenin is mediated through the binding to cell surface receptors. Blocking the interaction of angiogenin with its receptor most likely will inhibit the angiogenesis induced by angiogenin so that it can further inhibit the growth of tumor and kill the tumor cells.In our studies, we firstly cloned and expressed the human angiogenin. Total RNA was isolated from the human lung cancer cell line A549. The cDNA encoding hANG was amplified by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)method using the isolated total RNA as the template.
