Esophageal carcinoma is one of the most common malignant diseases in China. Its develepmont progression and prognosis are related to many uncertain factors. Using the technique of immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization, We tried to detect the overexpression of P53, c-erbB-2,c-H-ras oncogene, and distribution of type III collagen or fibronectin at the same time in different buffered-formalin fixed and paraffin-embedded sections of specimen from 102 resected esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and compared these results with the patients' clinicopathological factors including the lymph nodes metastasis, depth of invasion, differentiation of the tumour, TNM staging and postoperative survival.
